Richard Shimer, M.D., is a 1997 graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his Residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pennsylvania State University Program in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he became Chief Resident in 2001. He is at present a board eligible general surgeon.

Dr. Shimer has extensive experience in laparoscopic procedures, including the Gastric Bypass. It, the laparoscopic Roux-en-y procedure, is considered the “Gold Standard” in weight loss surgeries today. He is currently a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons.
