Performance Results—Pneumonia

Pneumonia is a serious infection of the lungs. These measures apply to what is called "community acquired pneumonia," which occurs prior to hospital admission in patients 18 years old or older. These measures provide a guideline for the care of patients who have community acquired pneumonia as well as the protocols to prevent future lung problems.

The data used to compute the indicator percentage for the system overall and each individual facility was collected in the fouth quarter of the calendar year, from October 2007 to December 2007.

The data for this measure was provided by the TJC (The Joint Commission) from its September 2007 data.
